The graphic print for SS17 EPOCH comes from an antique dress discovered in Brooklyn. The dress was scanned, scaled, and the graphic was printed in Italy on two fabrics, cotton canvas and linen. The canvas was used for the ARC PARKA, the linen for the ARC DESERT SHIRT and ARC ANKARA PANT
The ARC PARKA shell framework comes from a US Military Parka and was the first ABASI ROSBOROUGH garment designed to expose all bindings (typically concealed at the interior) and pockets, highlighting the architecture of the design. The seams and raglan sleeve have been anatomically angled, allowing for greater movement and flexibility.

The designers' trip to Kyoto and Tokyo led to conversations about the duality of ancient and modern ideas co-existing, the sacredness of natural materials, and the importance of Eastern traditions of dress not being dominated by the West. This informed fabric choices and led to the development of the ARC NORAGI. Visits to the temples informed decisions on structural joinery and updates to existing designs, the ARC DESERT SHIRT being one, where the interior bindings and finishings are all exposed on the exterior of the garment.

The SS17 season marks the release of the third version of the ARC JACKET, the forward vision for tailoring proposed by ABASI ROSBOROUGH. The jacket has been designed 'From Within Outward' (Frank Lloyd Wright) considering the body's anatomical needs for movement and flexibility. The underarm and center back panels are made from cotton knit rib, the strongest and most flexible panel used to date. The interior details are exposed including the horsehair canvas, pockets, bindings, and chest pad stitching. The center front has a magnet closure, instead of a button, and back has adjustable belted waist.

The ARC DESERT SHIRT was originally released for SS16, and inspired by a kimono and baseball shirt hybrid. This season, the bindings that previously had been on the interior, are now exposed on the exterior, to subtly highlight the garment architecture.

The interior of the Tenryu-ji temple outside of Kyoto. The architectural structural precision combined with natural un-painted materials, the luminescence of the washi paper, the airflow through the cooridoors. The intention in referencing these ideas was not to simply romance them, but to bring them into everyday urban life in cities.

The experience in Japan led to conversation, sketching, deadstock fabric hunting for things that felt natural, airy, and soulful, and the collection came together to speak about the original idea.

The ARC APOLLO TABI BOOT is the fusion of the traditional Japanese tabi shoe with elements from a basketball shoe, as well as military and Chelsea boots. The shoes will be released with the AW17 DISSIDENT collection, in July 2017. This is the first production run of the shoes, and will be limited in quantities, and jointly released through ABASI ROSBOROUGH stockists. They are available for pre-order through May 1, 2017.
